The Negative Space
Do you like this story?
Today's about the negative space. What is negative space?
In the drawing, negative space, instead of observing the positive form of an object, you draw the shape of space around the object. This may include details of the background or a design, or can be established as a simple silhouette. In many books about design, you will find an example that begins by drawing a silhouette of the object, and shadow around him. Although it is a gauge, this is not correct drawing negative space. How do you draw the outline, draw a positive picture - emphasizing the positive space - forms a solid object.
The current example below was prepared in this way, looking at the shape of each part of the object, and the drawing of its contours and nuances. This method does not achieve the objective of the exercise of drawing negative space, which is to understand the forms and spaces around an object.
